BMI Choir perform at NTA 2020

For the second time, Indigo Television contacted BMI, commissioning them to create a choir, arrange and perform the song ‘You raise me up‘ for the opening of the 25th Anniversary of the National Television Award 2020. Immediately Steve & Velveta handpicked twenty-five vocalist from very different cultural, musical and ethnic backgrounds. The script was to create a ‘slick’ yet humorous performance. While the choir is singing, the idea was for the host for the evening, David Walliams to be hoisted-up above the choir.

Over three weeks, Steve consulted with Indigo Television and devised a plan to prepare the selected singers for a live performance at the prestigious o2 Arena. The end-results were phenomenal as the 25 singers surpassed and exceeded Steve & Velveta’s expectation, receiving high praises from the Executives and Producers of the Awards show.

What an awesome privilege to work alongside so many gifted professionals all brought together by Indigo Television. We are thankful to Andy Bates, the senior producer who believed in my work over the years, in particular, the vocal arrangements for the 2016 National Television Awards opening with Gloria Gaynor and Revelation Avenue.

In particular, we are thankful to Antonio Castle (Daughter of the late Roy Castle), a family which we have worked with and loved over the years. As the stage manager, and liaison personnel along with Producer, Lauren Gallen, she made our task so much easier and enjoyable with an eye for details. That is quite true of the entire Indigo Television team.

Again, BMI is thankful for the opportunity to collaborate and work to such high standards, learning so much throughout the entire project.

The BMI Choir

It has been a great honour, blessing and opportunity to be involved in the NTA ITV 2020 award show.
When Steve was approached to put a choir together and arrange a song for NTA, we had no idea the journey we would be on.

When Steve was contacted and to put a choir together and arrange a song for NTA, we had no idea the journey we would be on. First, we prayed about the choice of choir members as individuals needed to represent Christ by having a good heart as well as their gifting.

Well, this turned out to be the best representation of the unity of the body of Christ, as each individual’s personality & character spoke ‘volumes’.
From the recording studio staff to the stylists, the stage management, the Choreographer, Make-up team and stylist, they all commented on how easy it was to work with the team. Two of the stylist so enjoyed hanging out with the singers, after the choir’s performance, they stayed in our dressing room and came to our suite to watch the rest of the Awards. On leaving the suite, they hugged us all, expressing once again how blessed they felt to be around us.
This demonstration of unity is Christ in motion. To be a Christian is to be Christ-like.
‘We are the light of the world…’ is what the Bible says.
The BMI choir made heaven proud. Steve, Sonia and I, as the executive team, was overwhelmed at the fellowship and heart of our team. Thank you, BMI Choir!

BMI goes to Ukraine 2018 Update

BMI goes to Ukraine 2018 Update

BMI goes to Ukraine 2018 Update

Wow!!! What an awesome 10 days (spending more time away than normal – thank you Velveta). But I thank God for the opportunity to have met some really beautiful people in Romania & Ukraine. We have just come to the end of Music in Worship 2018 Conference.

200+ people gathered at The Ukraine Evangelical Theological Seminary (UETS), many new, including leaders from all over Ukraine.

The conference was jam-packed with so many various facets including Keynote seminars, workshops, a concert of prayer for the churches and nation of Ukraine, and even managed to complete a few demo recordings with some of the UETS students who are writing some great songs (watch the space!!!).

I feel very honoured to be part of the international team from the UK, the USA joining up with folks from Russia and Ukraine

I also joined a panel of Church leaders to talk about relationships between pastors and worship leaders, which was incredibly heart-moving as both Pastors and worship team members shared their hearts with excellent questions and answers. Another opportunity not only to teach but to observe and learn. Significance and success always begin firstly with a yielding to Christ’s headship and healthy leadership.

The last part of the conference involved Communion with everyone before blessing and the sending out of all the students and teachers.

Some had to leave early as they had travelled (not by plane) over 12 hours in order to attend the conference. Amazing!!!

On 4 – 8 October, BMI will be returning to Romania with eleven other members to faciliate a worship Conference at the Philidephia Church (More information to follow!) We are thankful for these key, significant open-doors to minister to our brothers and sisters in Eastern Europe.

On The Watch: Praying For The Imminent Revival
Book versionKindle version

Beracahmusic International Ministries highlights a new book by Bunmi Adekeye.

On the Watch‘ takes you through the remarkable events leading to the start of a revival in a local church on the outskirts of London and provides insight into how God has kept the fire burning.
Engaging and inspiring, On the Watch, will challenge any Christian who is tired of sitting still whilst darkness encroaches but rather wants to be a part of the change in the spiritual state of their local community or nation. It outlines the real-life practical steps taken by those involved in the revival that is just starting, providing insights into what has kept them constant in prayer and inviting the reader to embark upon the same journey. The framework outlined in On the Watch can be replicated in any church and will embolden Christians everywhere to step out in faith and reclaim their land through prayer. A Quick Start Toolkit is included at the end for those inspired to embark on a similar voyage.

We welcome Jayda Grace Lynch

We welcome Jayda Grace Lynch

We welcome Jayda Grace Lynch

Well after a very arduous journey for Velisha & Jermaine, the Thompsons welcome their first grandchild Jayda Grace Lynch. Say’s Steve, ‘Gavin, Sonia, Velveta and I are so proud of Jermaine & Velisha! I am personally down with a very bad bout of flu, so have not as yet held my grandchild Jayda as yet, but Velveta & Esther, Sonia & Gavin have been visiting the hospital each day. Words cannot express our joy’

From Jermaine, ‘Yesterday, 31st January 2018 at 22:56 my daughter Jayda Grace Lynch was born weighing a healthy 7lbs1oz. Publicly want to honour my wonderful wife Velisha who carried our child for 9 months and went through 48 hours of trauma to deliver this little beauty! She’s is so perfect to us and we are really looking forward to getting to know her more. Pray for us!’

We will indeed pray for them as they start this new ‘family journey’ as Steve & Velveta did 25 years ago.

Psalm 139: 13 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.

Mother & baby are doing just fine!

Ukraine 2017 Mission Update

Ukraine 2017 Mission Update

Thank you

2017, 18 – 20 September, Steve Thompson embarked upon a mission trip to teach several lectures at the Ukrainian Evangelical Theological Seminary (UETS). We at Beracahmusic Ministries International and casX would like to say a huge thank you to all the supporters who donated financially to this particular trip. The budget was met 100%.

Because of your generosity, all three years of the seminary were the benefits of five lectures per day, which included various subjects from Music Arranging, Music Sequencing, Band skills, the Theology of Worship, Keyboard skills (as seen in pictures), etc. The seminary is very thankful that we would consider sowing into not only the educational facility but the very nation itself. May God continue to bless the Ukraine.

Beneath you can watch a video of the students in their own words, expressing their thanks. We plan on revisiting the seminary in May & September 2018.

As mentioned in previous reports, they do not have exhaustive resources but are able to have such a huge impact on the nation.

Sometimes three students will share a keyboard and there is only one computer with music software. Therefore, BMI will be campaigning to raise funds to purchase more keyboards and a few second-hand mac computers with Logic Audio sequencing software.

Thanksgiving Worship & Celebration Service Update

Thanksgiving Worship & Celebration Service Update

On the 13th August 2017, we had the most amazing evening at City Gates Church, celebrating Velveta Thompson’s healing. With over 900 people present, we raised a sound of exuberant praise and worship to our God. We would like to thank the many friends that travelled to Ilford from all over the United Kingdom, someone travelling all the way from Paris.

Throughout the evening there was only one name that was lifted high, the name of Jesus. We were joined by many worship leaders, City Gates worship team & children’s ministry, dancers and intercessors. In between the worship, our hearts were moved by testimonies and video greetings from those who could not attend. (Video greetings beneath).

We are thankful that the staff of Basildon hospital were present so we could personally thank them for the significant role they played in Velveta’s rehabilitation.

At the end of the evening, Velveta shared an awesome testimony of how God delivered her from the brink of death and restored her life from Critical illness to full restoration. During her testimony, one of her main appeals was a reminder to forgive and release those who may have hurt you, moving on with your life and allowing God to heal hearts, circumstances and broken relationships. The response from many to date has been overwhelming.

You could hear a pin drop as Vel shared her ‘out of body’ experience (still more to be shared) and how the presence of Jesus never left her throughout her period of being in a coma.

During the middle of the evening celebrations, I was personally reminded of how God changes our circumstances for the sake of His glory, He often uses our circumstances to change us. One thing we do know is that our family can never be the same again! Though He has promised to deliver us from our troubles, God may not do this in the way we think. The fact is, God, does more than just deliver us, He will go to whatever extent to develop us into the likeness of His Son and into the fullness of our God-given potential.

During a previous Bible study, I have noticed how often the word ‘through’ is used in Scripture. To get to the Promised Land, Israel had to go through the Red Sea, through the wilderness, and through the Jordan River.

‘As they pass through the Valley of Baca [brokenness, loss, grief, and weeping] they make it a spring…they go from strength to strength’ (Psalm 84:5-7 NKJV). ‘When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned’ (Isaiah 43:2 NKJV). (Word for Today).

Again, we encourage those of you who may still be waiting for your healing – trust God! He knows what He’s doing. Be patient! While God is working for you, He’s working in you. When you finally get through your difficult experience or circumstance, like us, you’ll look back and thank Him for the things He has taught you. There is much we have learnt throughout this experience and know there is still much more to be learnt (Someday we will share the wider aspect of this journey).

But for now, we simply want to say thank you for ‘journeying with us’ in faith, love and compassion. Let us know how we can also stand with you in prayer. Remain in faith, hope and expectancy that where two or three are gathered in HIS NAME, whatever we ask He will do immeasurably beyond all we can imagine or think. Blessings,

~ Steve T.
