Sunday evening, 16th November 2014 was a special day where we witnessed the baptism of our fourteen year old daughter, Esther Thompson. Velveta and I are so blessed to see both our daughters living out their young lives serving God.
The baptism took place at our local church, City Gates Christian Centre. These baptism services are always a fantastic experience where each candidate are invited to give their testimony. We were so proud of Esther as she spoke with such confidence even though she said, ‘Dad, my knees were knocking together with nerves …’ One would never know, as she shared with passion her steps towards becoming a Christ follower.
In her own words at the baptism, Esther says, “My mum reminded me of when they prayed for a child and God gave me to them and she was telling me that I was special. This really touched my heart and made me realise that God is the answer to everything. It made me realise that Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. And all that time I was confused on why I was so depressed and upset, He was with me all the time. It’s amazing how God can use people to tell you something, like how He used my mum to remind me of who I am. So after this, I made a commitment to follow Jesus and became more contented.
Esther continues to write songs and now embarking on recording her debut album sometime next year (come on dad get a move on!!!). [soliloquy id=”2729″]
How Jesus changed my life
“Jesus changed my life by helping me to become more positive and less negative. Things like reading my bible, finally going to youth (which took a lot of nagging from a lot of people) and spending time with family and friends really helped me to become more positive about my outlook on life. During this period of time, I found that God gave me a gift of writing songs and this has helped me to express my feelings and focus my thoughts.”
Let’s continue praying for our little Esther as she continues on this beautiful road of a life sold out for Christ. We love you Esther! Dad and mum, we are so excited about the wonderful life God has planned for you.
Josh. 24:24 And the people said to Joshua, “We will serve the LORD our God and obey him.”
Rev. 1:6 and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father — to him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen.
